SEEDA welcomes three new Enterprise Zones in the South East

17 August 2011

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) welcomes the Government's announcement of three new Enterprise Zones in the South East, which will build on existing economic development strengths. The Solent Enterprise Zone at Deadalus Airfield in Gosport, focussed on the marine and aerospace high growth sectors; Science Vale UK in Oxfordshire with a range of innovative companies including the International Space Innovation Centre; and the Discovery Park in Sandwich (ex-Pfizer, Kent) with its wealth of pharmaceutical R&D expertise; will boost local economic growth and help create the over 30,000 new jobs by 2015 along with the other Zones, as anticipated by the Government. The success of these bids is also testimony to the strength of the private/public sector partnerships in these areas.
