SEEDA supports the growth of high-tech and knowledge based industries through a variety of projects like the Begbroke Centre for Innovation and Enterprise in Oxford.

Ensuring the South East is at the forefront of Britain 's knowledge economy, SEEDA has provided £900,000 for the Centre at the University of Oxford which has been a magnet for some of the nation's most innovative young enterprises. The Centre offers both Oxford University spin-out companies and external high technology firms office space and access to cutting-edge laboratory facilities. The Centre has created 41 new jobs and attracted eight businesses to the region, four of which have been created as a result of partnership activity with HE institutions.

Companies are able to join Oxford 's world leading technology cluster and access thousands of scientists and researchers. Currently, there are 21 high-technology science businesses using the facilities, including Contract Traces, the only specialist provider of forensic fibre examinations in the UK , as well as Oxford Gene Technology and Oxford Nanolabs. The Centre gives companies the space to grow and develop with a range of support services including training in essential business skills.
