South East Rural Board

28 July 2008

Are you passionate about a strong rural economy, thriving rural communities and beautiful, healthy landscapes in the South East of England ? Do you want to chair the single regional body that will bring together the key players across the economic, social and environmental sectors - from business, local authorities, and regional agencies - to make this happen ? If so, the Chair of the new South East Rural Board is for you.

You will lead action to identify the key economic, social and environmental trends in what is an increasingly turbulent and uncertain global environment. You will lead work in the Board to identify the priority actions for the rural SE, and to then follow up as 'watchdog' - to ensure action is happening, and making a difference for businesses and communities. The Board will work closely with the new Rural Forum

You will need to be independent of mind, a confident leader with a good track record of achievement, enthusiastic, and an excellent communicator to inspire others to deliver the Board's ambitions, and achieve positive

media coverage. An ability to influence delivery partners and key stakeholders both at a regional and national level to support them is also essential.

The Chairperson will need to commit approximately 2 days a month with a maximum of 30 days a year.

The closing date for applications is 15th August 2008 Candidates successful in being selected for interview will be informed by Tuesday 26th August 2008

Interviews for successful candidates will be held on 1st September 2008.
